China Telecom had a small office in the Docklands area of London and were about to relocate to a larger office in the same area and expand their operations within the UK. BT Office Furniture ultimately won the contract to design the new office, as well as to supply and install new furniture throughout.

The reception desk was a bespoke design with aluminium side ‘wings’ complemented by a curved conical front panel in oak veneer that was punctuated with vertical aluminium strips. The front panel was finished off with a 10mm thick toughened glass shelf, creating a stunning piece of truly bespoke furniture.

The main office furniture was set up in pods of either six or three using 120 degree desks divided by desk mounted fabric screens. This created a very organic, flowing feel throughout the office and an excellent environment for the staff. The desks were relatively large and each pod was complemented by curved meeting ends for occasional meetings and also to accentuate the curves within the office. Heavy duty multi functional operator chairs were specified throughout.

The meeting room table was of high specification with integrated power and data hubs hidden within the centre of the table. The power and data could be accessed via a flip-up section of the table which was finished in the same veneer. Small cable outlets allow for cables to exit the centre section so that it can be closed during meetings after laptops etc have been connected.

The desk supplied for the CEO was from the ABC range in wenge finish in an Italian design. The desk and accompanying storage unit are highly stylized with worktops raised from the structure to give an almost floating appearance.

The installation was completed in two days and we have recently revisited the main office and redesigned the area in order to take another 6 staff.
