The internationally renowned Selfridges is located on Oxford Street, London and is first and foremost a luxury retail store. The site also has offices on the fifth floor for nearly 100 employees.

A section of the office area had been slated for a revamp and a number of companies were approached to quote for the new office furniture. The requirements were simple enough; cost effective, modern white office furniture was specified which had to include a good cable management system, along with operator seating, dividing fabric screens, personal storage units and desk mounted LCD monitor stands. The tricky part; The furniture had to be quoted, ordered, delivered and installed in a total time frame of only two weeks from the initial contact!

Using British office furniture manufacturers, the BT Office Group specified white melamine double wave office desks with matching under desk mobile drawer units. The chairs were specified with a heavy duty mechanism, arms, and were to be upholstered in a modern crepe style fabric in black to provide a contrast to the white furniture. The desk screens were specified in white fabric to create a crisp, modern working environment. Desk mounted articulated LCD monitor arms were installed in order to provide as clear a desk top space as possible.

The desks we grouped into pods of eight, with each pod protruding from the outer walls. The cabling from the wall mounted power and data sockets was channelled through under desk cable troughs, and exited through cable ports in the desk tops. The cables from the LCD monitors were channelled though the articulated arms, and into the cable ports – then through the under desk cable trays to the CPU towers.

An excellent working partnership has now been formed between Selfridges and the BT Office Group. The office furniture installation was completed on time, and within budget. Subsequent orders from Selfridges have also been completed in the same manner.
